Election 2012: The Choice Is An Easy One

The 2012 Presidential election will be the most important one in the entire history of the LGBT community. Not only will we be presented an enormous opportunity to move forward with President Obama in our epic struggle for freedom but juxtaposed is the possibility of Romney who will actively seek to roll back progress we have already achieved.

Never has the choice been more clear and stark.

The list of President Obama’s accomplishments for the LGBT community is endless. Yes, of course, there is more to do but in order to accomplish those milestones he must be re-elected. Just looking at the major achievements is breathtaking:

• Endorsing the right of same sex couples to have full marriage equality.
• Repeal of the onerous “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”
• Passage of the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Bill.
• Refusal by the Attorney General to defend DOMA in court.
• Supports the passage of ENDA
• Lifting the HIV travel ban to the United States of people who are HIV positive.
• Appointments, far too numerous to name them all, to positions of power
• Believes in the right of same sex couples to adoption

Now the just look to the dark side and see the horror that awaits the LGBT community if Mitt Romney is elected:

Romney actively supports putting into the Constitution of the United States an amendment that would ban marriage equality for the LGBT community.

• He opposes same sex marriage
• Romney even is more conservative than President Bush in that he opposes civil unions.
• He is against same sex couples adopting children.
• Mitt is against ENDA
• Even the re-instatement of DADT is on his agenda

Do you really need to know any more than the above facts before making a decision? Can you really afford not to contribute to “Obama for America?” Can you safely sit in your home and not work your ass off to stop Romney from ending years of good work and dashing our dreams?
